Phyllis Wallbank
Phyllis Wallbank is a British educationalist, who became a disciple and friend of Maria Montessori. She founded the first all-age Montessori school in Britain and later went on to establish the Gatehouse Learning Centre which is globally renowned for its wealth of distinguished graduates. Wallbank is credited for the design of the College of Montessori's Distance Learning Course for Teachers. In 1996 she was conferred with an MBE by Queen Elizabeth; and a short while later was decorated with a Benemerenti Medal by Pope John Paul II
